Several years ago, a group of dedicated families began the groundwork to create a new, independent high school for Atlanta. Because Waldorf education embraces the educational and developmental needs of adolescents and offers a rich, experiential approach to teaching, we knew this curriculum would be the answer to the prayers of many parents and their teenaged children who were searching for a small, nurturing, academically rigorous high school experience.

After years of careful research, detailed planning, and hard work we have introduced Academe of the Oaks, the first independent Waldorf high school in the southeastern United States, to the high school students of Atlanta.

Our Name
The Academe was the grove in Ancient Greece that Plato walked in to inspire his students with a passion for learning. The oak tree symbolizes towering strength, supported by deep roots. We want the students at Academe of the Oaks to develop a life-long passion for learning and growth. We will support them as they develop into strong, balanced adults who understand the importance of giving back to their community and the world.

"Because the classes are small, the teachers have the freedom to teach us one-on-one. Not every teacher would do this, but the teachers here would like nothing better. They keep the classes engaged and interesting with fascinating subjects and engaging lesson plans."
