History
Several years ago, a group of dedicated families laid the groundwork to create a new, independent high school for Atlanta. Recognizing that Waldorf education meets the educational, developmental, and experiential needs of students, the founders knew this curriculum would be the answer to the wishes of many families searching for a small, nurturing, and academically rigorous high school experience.
After years of careful research, detailed planning, and hard work, Academe of the Oaks opened its doors in 2003, the first high school of its kind in this region of the United States.
OUR NAME
The Academe was the grove in Ancient Greece where Plato held classes and inspired his students. The oak tree symbolizes towering strength supported by deep roots. We want the students at Academe of the Oaks to develop a life-long passion for learning and growth. We will support them as they develop into strong and balanced adults who understand the importance of giving back to their community and the world.
