Mark Cobb
Mark Cobb has made a name for himself as one of the finest drummers
in the Atlanta music scene. Originally from Indianapolis, Mr. Cobb
has worked as a professional musician in Los Angeles (where he studied
under soul great James Gadson), Chicago, and finally Atlanta, where
he moved a few years ago. Mr. Cobb plays drums professionally with
Atlanta rock band Y-O-U, a touring group that has performed at Music
Midtown, the Tabernacle, the Georgia Theater in Athens, and many
other venues throughout the Southeast. He also works regularly as
a session drummer with bands and solo artists in the studio, in
local venues and on the road.
A graduate of the prestigious Indiana University
School of Music, Mr. Cobb’s playing combines the technical
abilities of a seasoned and learned session player with an infectious
enthusiasm as an experienced percussion instructor. He has the ability
to connect to learners of all ages and abilities, and he believes
his success lies in his ability to pass on his passion for music
to his students. In his spare time, Mr. Cobb scuba dives, writes
screenplays, films sketch comedy, teaches Jazzercise, and defends
his title as the ultimate pop culture knowledge bowl champion.
Mr. Cobb teaches drumming at Academe of
the Oaks.
